VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME
Musicians For Hire "Higher"
Posted by Scott Keller | Asst. Worship Coordinator, Western Region | Posted 5/26/2007

The Vineyard Western Region is made up of a diverse group of churches, having the founding church of the movement on one end of the spectrum, and new church plants on the other end.  We have some churches flush with musicians and worship leaders, and others that are just beginning to build a worship team.

The heart of our regional task force is to see God worshipped through music in churches large and small.  One way we can facilitate this is to build a network of worship leaders and musicians that support and lend help to one another.

New church plants are particularly blessed when other churches stand beside them and pitch in.  Some of our new church plants may only have an acoustic guitar and djembe from week to week, and it would be a blessing to have a bassist and drummer once every other month.  Or maybe their one and only worship leader might want to take a week of so he/she can take a break.

It's not just church plants that can benefit greatly from the help of neighboring churches, but all churches can benefit.  For instance, a church of 300 may want to have a string quartet for a special service, or a violin player for some special music.  The possibilities are endless.

We would like to encourage pastors and coordinators to consider "sharing" their leaders and musicians with the greater church body.  If you are a worship pastor/coordinator, and have enough musicians that you are able to shared a player with another church from time to time, we ask you to write to worship@vineyardwestern.com.  Tell us about the players(s) or leader(s) that you are able to lend out once every nine weeks, every three months, or whatever you are comfortable with.

To make this effective, we ask that you send out your more seasoned musicians that would be comfortable playing in unusual places with musicians they've never met before.  If your musician is good at training other musicians or is very experienced and seasoned, that is even better.  The goal is to provide a help to worship pastors, senior pastors, and their congregations.

The regional worship task force will discuss this program during the Worship Leaders' Dinner at the Anaheim "In His Presence" conference on July 19th.  For more information about this dinner meeting, click on our Events page.
