Eleven Things You May Not Realize About
Your Worship Team

1. Your team needs to be with you in settings
other than rehearsal at church
♦ Do a picnic
♦ Take them to Baskin Robbins and buy them a cone
♦ Play volleyball together
2. There’s probably somebody on your team that needs to take a break
from worship ministry. (It will actually strengthen their personal
worship and growth in the Lord.)
3. You are a bigger influence than you probably realize. The team
(especially younger members) will pick up and emulate your attitudes and
opinions of church, of its leaders, of other ministries, etc.
4. You can be a great resource to your team in helping them grow in
their faith. Give them articles to read, recommend good books and make
them aware of seminars and retreats, etc.
5. Your team needs to laugh! Laughter is good medicine and draws people
closer together.
6. Growth is contagious! Point out and affirm the musical and spiritual
growth you see in individuals on the team. Others will hear it and some
will follow suit (lessons, purchasing better gear, digging deeper,
growth in prayer, etc.).
7. Many on your team may be ready to teach/train others. Link up more
seasoned members with up and coming bass players, keyboardists,
vocalists, etc. It can make a huge difference in the lives of young
people and children as well as adults.
8. You probably have a future worship leader on the team right now.
9. One or two of your team members have really good ideas on how to help
take the worship ministry to the next level (but they won’t share unless
asked to).
10. There is no substitute for care and encouragement. Be sure that your
team knows that you value and appreciate them.
11. Be appropriately transparent with your team. Confess you
shortcomings (they know them anyway!). It will stimulate more openness
and vulnerability on the team and create opportunities to minister one
